On the 5th & 6th July 2019, Aquinas College of Higher Studies held its awarding ceremony for nearly 1000 students, who received their Diplomas and Certificates at the Don Peters auditorium.
At this ceremony, the Aquinas College of Higher Studies awarded the students who has successfully completed the Diploma in English, Diploma in Sister Formation, Diploma in Catholic Education and Teacher Training, Diploma in Cookery and Culinary Art, Diploma in Proficiency Skills and Hotel Management, Diploma in information and communication technology, Diploma in Pharmacy Management and Practice, Diploma in Agriculture Production Technology, Diploma in Plant Nursery Development Assistant and Certificate in Basic English and Information Technology.
Most Rev. Dr. Maxwell Silva, the Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour on 5th July and congratulated all the achievers. In his speech heemphasised the need for English language as an intra-language to develop a cohesive multi-cultural society.In addition to that heexplained how the English language serves as a means of building the generation gap and helps to provide equality of opportunity in a country like Sri Lanka.
Very Rev. Fr. (Dr) Susith Mark Lal Silva, the Rector/Vice Chancellor of Aquinas College of Higher Studies welcomed the dignitaries and expressed his gratitude for their gracious presence.He congratulated the students and advised them to make the right choices in choosing their higher studies.
Aquinas Collage is a non-profit institution, situated at Parkland in Borella, located in the centre of the city of Colombo. It is administered by the Catholic Church under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Colombo, devoted to education and philanthropic activities. It has contributed much to the development of the nation, by conducting numerous higher education and professional programmes for the benefits of our youth in Sri Lanka.
Aquinas Collage is a state-approved Degree Awarding Institute under University Grants Commission. It was given the place of degree awarding institute for developing higher education under the section 25A of the Universities Act, No 16 of 1978: as last amended by Act No 1 of 1995 read with paragraph (2) of the Article 44 of the Constitution having obtain the report under the Section 70C of the aforesaid act leading to the conferment of the degrees of;

- Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Counselling (B.Sc.)
