Convocation Ceremony 2017

His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Chancellor of Aquinas College of Higher Studies presided over the Convocation Ceremony 2017, at the Don Peter Auditorium on Thursday 19th October. His Excellency Mithripala Sirisena, the President graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Rev. Fr. Susith Silva, the Rector/Vice Chancellor of Aquinas College of Higher Studies welcomed the dignitaries and expressed his gratitude for their gracious presence.


The responsibility of the higher educational institutions in the country is to ensure highest quality and standards. Aquinas College of Higher Studies has made outstanding development in the field of Higher Education. Correctly ascertaining the needs of the time as a pioneering non-governmental Higher Educational Institute, it has served the Nation persistently and unreservedly. Recapitulating his speech at the Convocation 2017 as Chief Guest, President Sirisena applauded Aquinas College, for it unique and admirable service to the Higher Education of the Nation.


The Chief Justice Hon. Priyasath Dep, the Chief Guest of the Award Ceremony I, felicitated Aquinas College of Higher Studies as an eminent Catholic Higher Educational Institute in the Island. He emphasized that the services rendered by Aquinas College is a blessing to the youth, particularly to the under-privileged of our beloved nation.


Mrs. Malkanthie Jayawardane, the Director General of the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), the Chief Guest of the Award Ceremony II, recommended Aquinas College of Higher Studies to the parents as an “Educational Institute for their children”. She highly commended the vision and mission of Aquinas. Then she went on to say that parents should carefully select Higher Educational Institutes that offer quality and recognized courses for their children.  Finally, Mrs. Jayawardane urged the parents and the students to appreciate and value the tremendous work Aquinas does for the entire nation.
